NEXT YEAR'S SHOW - AUG 14TH - 2010
Schedule of Events for the 2010 Event:
Cars can begin to Park at Wilson Park at 8 am. Please park following the parking attendants, in order to make the best use of space. Register after parking, at the registration booth. $10 per car, (helps to pay for picture plaque awards)
Judging will begin at 10:30 (be sure to register by that time)
The following categories will be judged: Most Original pre 1950 - Best of 30's & 40's - Best of the 50's - Best of the 60's - Best of the 70's to present. Best Project Car - Best Custom Paint - People's Choice (voted on by participants & spectators - 1 vote per person, 16 yrs & older)
Awards will be presented around 1:30 pm by the Announcer, in the park. A photo of the winning car on a nice trophy plaque will be the prize for each category.
Door Prizes will be randomly awarded throughout the day by the Announcer - entrants will be automatically signed up for door prizes at time of registration.
Poker Walk - Open to the Public for $5 per hand - first hand free to car show entrants (with handout received at time of registration)
A five card hand will be collected by poker walk contestants from five designated downtown business locations. The cards will be concealed in individual envelopes. Take the five cards to
the "dealer" in the park where the dealer will open the envelopes to reveal your hand. You have the option of keeping your hand or discarding two cards and walking or catching a ride (golf cart provided by Grid Kids as a fundraiser) to the exit and collecting your "draw" cards from the businesses there. Take the draw cards to the dealer to reveal your final hand.
Best hand wins a Night's Lodging for two at a very nice destination, yet to be determined.
Game ends at 1:30 pm - winner announced when show awards are announced.
Live Band "Ram Induction" - will be playing across the street from the park with some great car show favorites. These guys donate their talent and are a lot of fun!
Drawing for a Commemortative Quilt made by Becky Bosch. Tickets will be sold at the park. She makes a quilt with photos from the last show and donates the proceeds from the drawing to the fund to purchase a sign for the show.
Vendors selling cool drinks, food & wares will be on the sidewalks. Any vendors wanting space at the show need to contact Brenda at the hardware store, fill out the vendor form and pay a $10 refundable booth deposit. (non-refundable if the booth isn't set up) Sidewalk chalk will mark your spot - you provide your own tables, equipment, etc.
Parade of Cars at 2 pm. This is where you'll get to see those beautiful cars in motion. They will pull out of Wilson Park following a lead car, out to the fruit stand near the exit. Pull through the fruit stand parking lot turning back toward Main St. traveling through downtown Kittitas to the top of Main St. The cars will make a hairpin turn and travel back down Main St. at which time the Announcer will announce driver, owner, make, model and award (if any) This is a fun event and a good time for the crowd to get to know a little about the people behind the cars. The contestants can then park their cars, the "Show" portion of the car show is officially over and the burnouts begin.
Burnouts on Main St. will begin after the parade of cars. There is a slight lag in events as the burnout drivers are lined up, safety inspected, and debriefed on the rules. If you are planning to be a burnout contestant read the rules on the burnout rules page of this website. The burnouts will take place in front of City Hall this year so there is more space for the spectators to stay back from the action. The vehicles will do a SLOW rolling burnout (no standing still) for a full city block. Showing off by laying as much rubber and smoke as possible. Power braking is encouraged, showmanship is king! Winners get bragging rights, a winners hat and a picture plaque award. There are 3 divisions - Pro Class, Amateur Class & Truck Class. Entrants choose their division of choice and will draw a number to determine the order of the lineup. Last year's winners will go last in each division.
