Here's the Story:      It was shot opening morning by 7:00 A.M. and we listened to it bugle all night long from our bivy camp.  It is really a beautiful bull and it will look great mounted in my home.  It rough gross green scores 335”.  It will probably finish around 321” net after it dries (2% reduction) and the deductions are taken off (Approx. 8”).  It is a very nice bull for my first.  It may also be the biggest bull I ever shoot.  It was a perfect broadside shot at 35 yards.  He only ran 150 yards and I just walked straight to him after we went back to our bivy camp and readied ourselves for the work.  It took us until Thursday evening to get all the meat and our bivy camp out.  We figured we covered close to 30 miles and over 12,000 feet in elevation change.  The cape and horns weighed over 110 Lbs. and we took over 330 lbs. of meat to the processors.  He was such a large bodied animal.  I have shot a lot of cows and calves over the years and this bull seemed to be at least 1.5 times any elk I have ever shot.  If you look close he is missing about 1/3rd of his right ear.  That will make him unique as well and his name will be
“OL ONE EAR”.
Enjoy the pics.
I think you can get a more formal score from Jess Carr of Straight Arrow Taxidermy.  The above score was really fast and rough. Roger Sanford
